Have You Got Access?

Have You Got Access?

Introduction

We've just started a block of lessons on databases, and for GCSE Computing you need to know about relational databases. You can't create these in a spreadsheet application, you need a proper relational database management application, such as Microsoft Access or LibreOffice Base. It would be easiest (for me!) if we were all using the same application, so this assignment tests whether you have Access installed on your computer - it doesn't come with all versions of Micrsooft Office.

If you know that you have Access installed, please tick the box. If you are not sure, then click on the icon below and choose to Open the file. Put a tick in the box if your computer can open the file and display its contents.

If you can't open the Access file, then you can still create relational databases using LibreOffice from http://www.libreoffice.org/download/. LibreOffice isn't compatible with Access in the same way that it is with Word, Excel and PowerPoint files (i.e. it won't open them), but it does let you do the same sorts of things and it looks quite similar.
